Street and Slum Child Protection

Pune is the 8th largest city in India and 78th largest in the world; with a population of 4 million people. There are 5000 child prostitutes and over 6000 street children within the city limits. Our focus is on the children on the streets and child sex workers in the slums. In the year 2010, we rented a house at Chandan Garden, which could accommodate 16 children. Starting with just two children which then grew to nine by the end of the year. We send them to school, also providing them food, clothing and all the necessities that is required by these kids. We opened our counselling centre for people with life controlling problems like drug addicts and alcoholic in the slums of Ram Tekdi. We have seen tremendous growth in their academic, physical and emotional health. Children learn a new pattern of life under the observation of the staffs who aim to create a healthy family like environment by giving them love and emotional support.
